Anne is a 6 month old female border collie. She was relinquished to MOKAN BC Rescue because she was getting picked on by another dog in the family. She is currently being fostered in Columbia Missouri. Anne is partially housetrained and does well if let outside at regular intervals. She is becoming accustomed to the crate and sleeps 5-7 hours at night. She would probably sleep all night but she has other dogs in her foster home that wake her up. She is not eager to go into the crate but she is developing the routine of what happens when and is a quick learner. She does NOT keep me up all night yelping! She has a little whine that is quieted with a firm “NO”. Anne didn’t like the leash much at first but she has become used to it and will be pretty easy to work with on leash skills. She really enjoys her off leash time and sticks around and comes when called. She definitely watches what the other dogs in her home do and learns from them. She is leery about playing with them and having them chase and wrestle with her but she is coming around. She is very submissive with other dogs and is just now starting to “hold her own” instead of flipping onto her back when someone tries to play. It’s been fun to watch her confidence build. Anne is a puppy AND a border collie so she needs a great deal of exercise and stimulation. If she doesn’t have enough toys, she will find something to play with that you don’t want her to have. This could be a shoe, a cord, a table leg , a pant leg (attached to its owner), or a rug. She needs to be monitored when she is free and she needs to have the undesirable chew object replaced with a permissible one. She definitely learns from “NO” or “LEAVE IT” and giving her something that is ok. Anne lived with several small children in her previous home and she stayed a few days with a rescuer who had small grandkids and she really likes kids! She would probably do fine with cats. She was around cats a few days over the holidays and they were a novelty to her and she wanted to interact with them but it was pretty hectic and not something I wanted to tackle at that time. She didn’t show any intent to harm the cats. She just was curious. Anne is petite and weighs in at 27#. I doubt she will get much bigger than 35# as an adult. She is really quite sweet and a bit mischievous. She can be mouthy, but it is a soft mouth. She can grab your pants while you walk. She likes hair and soft things. She has a prance rather than a walk. And she has wonderful soft fur with lovely markings! Anne will not be around for long. She is far too endearing.
