Missy is a beautiful, 8 month old border collie mix. She is a very active and enthusiastic companion. She loves toys and playing ball and tug of war with her foster siblings. She gets along well with other dogs but prefers a slow introduction so she doesn’t get overwhelmed. She has not been introduced to cats. Missy has a beautiful coat, silky and shiny, and loves to be near you so you can pet her and tell her how beautiful she is. We don’t know much about Missy’s past, but we do know her disposition is very sweet. She is somewhat timid with new people, especially men. (She did go to the vet recently and was perfect with the doc and all the strangers there. Trotted right in and out with confidence). Missy hopes her new family will be patient and reassuring while helping her build her confidence. Missy has a good herding instinct, and herds the horses across the fence at her foster home. She loves small children but gets so excited with them. She is not at all aggressive just overly friendly and does not understand personal space. She loves to climb up in your lap for snuggles but then is off and gone in a flash. Missy is house trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Often times she will put herself in the crate during the day to nap. She knows the following commands; off, down, sit, come, kennel up. The “off” and “down” commands are a little difficult for her as she loves to jump and be near her person. She needs reassurance she is ok at times as she tries hard to please her person. Missy will need an active family that will provide her with confidence and reassurance as well as continuing her training to be respectful of your personal space. She will need a fenced yard for exercise. She loves being outside! Missy is up to date on all her vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. She is on monthly heartworm, flea and tick preventatives, and should stay on these life long to keep her healthy. Missy is being fostered near Sedalia, MO.
