Sassy is an 8 month old Border Collie mix who was rescued from a rural kill shelter after she got too big for her elderly owner.  She came into foster care on August 1st with almost no vet care.  She has since gotten a clean bill of health and is fully vaccinated and spayed.  This active pup is needing a likewise active household to be a part of.

Sassy’s ideal home would have a fenced backyard as a safe place to play and run off excess energy.  She would also love to have an active dog friend.  She is working on recall and will walk with you to the mailbox or car off leash but can sometimes still get distracted.  Toys and fetch are the spice of life for Sassy and are a great way for her to get exercise.

She also had a fun lake day – this webbed paw girl went from being unsure to swimming for toys in just about an hour.  She loves people and wants to play with other dogs but can get overwhelmed with too many people or dogs.  Dog parks are going to be a work in progress as she is unsure of how to interact.  On her last outing, she went from person to person for attention but couldn’t relax enough to play with the other dogs.  Sassy does well one on one with dogs and loves Mo-Kan playful puppy Andy.  She is also good about giving older or more reserved dogs and cats their space. 

Sassy loves kids but her energy level and exuberance might be too much around toddlers/smaller children.  She does well in the crate and is mostly potty trained – she can’t be left unsupervised indoors but will go outside and almost immediately do her business.

This dog is high energy and will need an owner with training experience or willingness to take to obedience classes to help her learn her manners.  If your ideal furry friend is one that fills your evenings with fetch outback and tug a war in the living room, Sassy might be your new best friend.
